Vintage Metal Pitcher and Tray from Poznan Poland
Vintage Metal Pitcher and Tray from Poznan Poland
What a momento! A small vintage souvenir pitcher with a saucer with the original tag from the Hotnikow Zegarmistrow in Poznan Poland. The tag even has the street address of Kwiatowa 3. I believe this is a area of the downtown in Poznan with cultural sites, parks, etc. Zegarmsitrow translates to Clock maker, so it may be a momento from the famous clock tower that has the butting goats in the town center.
If you have found memories of an Eastern European adventure, polish heritage or just an eye for a good piece that would be a conversation starter on your shelf, this is the piece for you! It is metal, with a very nice silvery gold sheen. I am not sure if it is pewter or some metal alloy. We tested it for magnetic properties and it is not steel, for sure.
It has significant patina. I spent just a little bit of time with a soft rag and metal cleaner and it will be really easy to bring to a very beautiful finish. I did not complete the job, as I thought someone may want the patina and that can't be recreated! And I didn't want to damage the tag with cleaning the piece.
The only marking on the bottom of the pitcher and little tray is MET. I suspect that means metal?
