Set of Three Vintage Fabric Care Brushes
Set of Three Vintage Fabric Care Brushes
$32.50
These brushes were found at different Estate sales but I have combined them as they make a full set for fabric and clothing care and would be great to add to a collection, or put to use with a vintage flair. There are three items:
1 - Royal Sweden Natural/Synthetic Bristle Blend Brush with nice domed top with side grooves and small handle to fit the hand comfortably. High gloss lacquer finish. The original label with the Royal Sweden name, bristle identification and Made in Sweden is on the back of the handle. Really nice condition, no chips or significant marks in the wood. Bristles are firm. Needs a good cleaning to remove dust from storage at the base of the bristles. Likely 1940s or 1950s. Size - 7" long, 2 3/4" wide at head, 3 1/8" handle length, 2" tall
2 - Staedtler 989 00 Canada A vintage drafting brush, designed to sweep away eraser and graphite dust off of your architectural plans. Brushes like these are super handy for all kinds of crafting, and I use one to dust off my table before staging photos. I think it would be great for fabric care as well, as cleaning off the table for crumbs, or just anything that needs to be swept away! The handle is blond wood with a light protective finish with nicks and marks. The horsehair bristles are secure. There is a hanging hole in the end of the handle. Likely 1970s or 1980s. Embossed: Staedtler 989 00 Canada. Dimensions - 13 3/4" long, 3 1/4" deep at bristles, 5 3/4" long handle.
3 - Unbranded, foldable wooden clothes hanger with fabric brushes on each end.
What a practical piece - I think it would be great for travel. You would have a sturdy hanger, and a fabric brush all in one and it would fold up nicely to fit in your suitcase. The arms of the hanger are light blond wood with teal blue paint on the top and bottom edges.
The folding and hanging mechanism are silver metal. The bristles feel synthetic. The wood and the paint have scuffs and the metal has some oxidation and light rusting. Metal mechanism works efficiently and hanger is sturdy when folded out. Likely 1940s. Dimensions: Open - 17 1/2" long, 7 1/2" from top of hanger to bristle ends. Folded - 8 1/4" long, 1 3/4" deep
