This brush is so darn pretty - and rare - as I could not find any reference to the brand or similar brushes in my research. Mauret Deschamps Paris with an eagle logo is on the one side and Franc 858 on the other side of the handle. The brush is Victorian in style with an smooth gray wood top with an ornate raised design on both ends and a center silver medallion with the monogram ML in the center. I found a few similar (not the same brand name) that indicated they were made of Ebony wood. Not sure about this one as it is not marked as to the type of wood. Many that seem similar in design and composition are listed as antique. I just am a bit stumped! I am going with an educated guess of the 1940s.

I am pretty sure it is either a clothing/fabric brush or maybe was part of an original vanity set? I do not think it is a hair brush, but rather, for cleaning and maintaining coats, hats, or other articles of wool clothing. It is really pretty and would be amazing on display on a vanity, in a bathroom or even laundry care area.

This piece is in really nice vintage condition with slight oxidation on the silver designs (I did not polish) and a few stray or bent bristles.
