Mid-Century Brown Glazed and Embossed Stoneware Pitcher
Mid-Century Brown Glazed and Embossed Stoneware Pitcher
$26.00
This is a fun ceramic pitcher with a rich, warm brown color and a high sheen glaze with embossed diamonds and a greek key border. There are no markings on the piece but some many similar ones were marked with USA on the bottom.
These were originally created as buttermilk or syrup pitchers but today are used as much for flower vases or mantel decorations as for serving liquids. The brown hue and the high sheen glaze set this apart for its display quality. The design elements sets it apart from the more utilitarian ones that are easier to find.
The pitcher is in really nice condition. Interestingly, one side has marks in the surface that appear to be created in the manufacturing process. They are like chips/small divots, but the glaze covers them so they are not usage marks. It is only one side. The inside is really clean so it could be used for liquids if desired.
I just really like this piece!
Dimensions:
5" tall x 6-3/4" wide from spout to handle
4 3/8" diameter at its widest point.
