Vintage edu-cards "The World About Us" lotto game in Original Box
Vintage edu-cards "The World About Us" lotto game in Original Box
$15.50
This is a really fun vintage set - Edu-Cards Lotto Games "The World About Us". Basic reading skills are practiced through word and picture association. Children will learn through play to relate the home to the community and its workers. A school approved reading readiness game used in pre-school, kindergarten and first grade classes. From @ 1970 EDU-CARDS CORP. Commack NY. Made in USA.
This is a boxed set that includes the following components:
-36 Cardboard Lotto Cards with colorful imagery of items that match the images on the boards.
-6 Cardboard Lotto Boards with colorful imagery of items that match the images on the cards.
-White Paper Printed Directions
-Original Cardboard Box with platforms in the box that invert to trays for storing the cards and boards once separated.
The simple imagery of the Lotto Cards and Boards is quite compelling and of the period that the game was developed. The Directions are copyright 1971 Edu-Cards, A Division of binney & smith, Makers of Crayola crayons.
The original box is in amazing structural condition- little to no corner damage and edge wear with just one spot where the paper cover is missing. There is some color fading on the sides of the top paper cover and the top has caved in a bit from storage. Both the lotto cards and boards have perforated edges to set up the game. They have not been separated, so it is safe to say this game has yet to be used. There is slight age spotting on both. Slight musty smell.
What a fun back to school or teacher gift or addition to your vintage card collection. It would be fun to play this with your children/grandchildren today as well!
Note - these cards, if not used in a learning capacity, make GREAT ephemera for crafts: Scrapbooking, card making, journaling, junk journals, mixed media art, college, decoupage, tags-limited by your own imagination! I have found them in my research for $1.00 each. This box would equate to 42 cards at $1.00 each or $42. You can't go wrong here!
Dimensions:
Box - 7" x 16 1/2" x 1 3/4"
Cards - 1 7/8" x 3"
