I was so surprised when I opened a box of paper dolls from an Estate Sale and these were underneath the other treasures! This is a set of two 1940's Alma DeJournette Curly-Top Paper Dolls with Real Blonde Hair & Wardrobes in their original boxes. There are two different iterations of these paper dolls.

1 - Curly Top The Aristocrat of Paper Dolls with Real Hair and the New Exclusive Feature Washable Dresses to Design...Color...Wash...Iron...Recolor. Inside the original box is the doll with cascading blonde hair and eleven outfits with some accessories. All the outfits were made of velum paper, some to be colored and some preprinted. That paper type allowed for the coloring and washing aspect. All have been cut out and gently pre-played with. There may be some accessory pieces missing. The doll is in amazing condition and the outfits show some age but are not torn. I wonder if the colored ones would actually "wash"? She is in her original box with age related staining and a bit of bowing in the lid but structurally sound and the cellophane window is not compromised.

2 - Curly Top Doll and Complete Wardrobe designed by Alma DeJournette. Inside the original box is the doll with shorter, curlier blonde hair and eight outfits, 2 dolls with ten outfits and many accessories. All the outfits were made of paper and are preprinted (the washing feature was not in this version). All have been cut out and gently pre-played with. There may be some accessory pieces missing. The doll is in amazing condition with just a crease in one leg and the outfits show some age but are not torn and were carefully cut out. I believe this is an older set than the "washable" set. She is in her original box with age related staining and a bit of bowing in the lid but structurally sound. The cellophane for the window is missing.

These are really in amazing shape considering how long they have been a memento for someone.
