This plate/shallow bowl was marked as an antique at the estate sale where it was found. The style, feel of the china and the lack of mark on the back lead me to believe it is likely from the 1920s so I will use the antique label as well.

It is very pretty! The outside border is an elaborate design of a dark blue scalloped rim with gold painted laurel leaf garlands. Impressed into the outside edge is a bow (or butterfly?) and white vertical lines. All this fades into a creamy white background. In the center is a quite little lithograph type print of a traditionally attired Dutch boy and girl on ice skates.

The piece is in nice condition for it's age. There is one very small chip on the blue rim and quite a bit of loss of the gold paint on the outside edge. The front and back show significant crazing. The image of the winter scene is well preserved with just a few usage marks. The back has a few flea bites.

This plate would display so well on a mantel or as part of a gallery wall. Very unique presentation and wonderful colors!
