Charming is the perfect word to describe this Scovill Dritz sewing basket! And it would also be the most adorable 4th of July décor item, or even picnic basket, for that occasion. T

The basket itself is made of woven wood slats with a wood top and bottom. There is a sturdy center handle of wood as well. The top finishing band around the basket is a tan colored plastic strip with decorative brads holding it in plate. Two back hinges complete the composition. Inside is a red calico quilted fabric liner for the basket and the lid. Painted on top is an approximation of the US Presidential Seal in red, white and blue! There is a thin, clear plastic tray with compartments that rests on the top of the base. The Scovill Dritz sewing basket label is on the top of the inner liner. #91022 Scovill Dritz Made in Japan is stamped on the bottom.

This is in really nice condition and could certainly function as a Patriotic themed sewing basket today. There are a few surface imperfections along the lid top and the plastic band.
The painting on the top is in really nice condition. The fabric lining is also very nice. The wicker-weave is in very good overall vintage condition with just a few slights discoloration spots. The handle and hinges are securely attached.

This is just a charming vintage basket with a memory of yesteryear that would make a perfect gift for the vintage lover of sewing / knitting or crafting. Or, use this as a picnic basket at the cabin, or as a display item in your farmhouse kitchen. It is really special!
