Vintage 1930s Art Deco Courting Colonial Couple Tin
Vintage 1930s Art Deco Courting Colonial Couple Tin
$18.00
This is such a fun display piece, or perfect Valentine's Day gift! This 1930s tin depicts a courting couple - Lady with Parasol and Gentleman bowing to her - as a greeting. It has an Art Deco style feel and coloring - black, white and gold with bright red edges and bottom. There is no manufacturer branding, but by the size I would suspect it was sold with baked goods, rather large for candy.
The piece is in ideal condition to add the vintage feel to your décor. There is spots of paint loss scattered throughout, most prominently along the edges of the top and base and on the side. There are also a few spots where the painted surface has slight bubbling or roughness on the top - you have to get it in the right light to see it, but you feel it when you run your hand over the top. It does not impact the imagery much at all. The inside, bottom and base of the top have the surface discoloration that happens from the materials used in the 1930s - it also feels dusty. I would not think this would be food safe any longer but you could use it to store silverware or napkins or other non-food items.
Dimensions:
Round - 10" in diameter, 3 3/4" high
