This is a really fun set of green and gold floral chintz pressed paper and lacquer finish coasters from Viking Imports. Made in Japan around 1950 they were marketed as Alcohol Proof. They came from an Estate Sale that had many items that led me to believe the family were big card players. I imagine that these were used as individual coasters at the card table. You could add then to your mid-century bar set up for a bit of MCM "glam" and functionality.

The exotic green birds on the gold floral pattern would compliment many decoration styles. AND - you get 5 of them so they would also make a wonderful base for creating a unique gift set. Versatile and charming set.

They are in good distressed vintage condition with wear along the top gold paint edges. They have varying degrees of darkening of the finish and scuffs to the shiny gold pattern, no big rips or tears, but definitely evidence of usage. They also have no off odors that I note.

They do not have the foil stickers that indicates Alcohol Proof An Exclusive Viking Import, but I have had similar products and they all look exactly like this set. All are stamped in red Japan.
