What a unique piece and a wonderful way to start/add to your art collection. This is a piece from the listed artist Lucien Genin. It is a lithograph of an original late 1940s painting of a lively Paris Street scene with his signature style. It has the artist signature Lucien Genin in the lower left hand corner and the @ A.P.P. Co., Inc. identifying the print company. I believe this to be an authentic lithographic print dating from the 1940s, not a recent reproduction, and not a book plate.

The framing presentation is very unique and striking. There is a brown and gold hatched print mat with a repurposed wood frame. The frame is rustic with prominent wood grain and worm holes and it contrasts with the ultra-modern feel of the mat to allow this piece to cross many decorating style. The piece is behind glass. The back is covered in cardboard that has J. Lith and 1951 written in the top left corner. There is a claw tooth hanger on the back as well.

The lithograph is in wonderful condition, having been behind glass. The frame shows some aging with a few nicks in the wood, some surface dirtiness and slight separation at the corners.

Lucien Genin was an early 20th century French artist, known for his scenes of Paris in the 1930s. Published while he was active, this beautiful French cityscape depicts a bustling street scene in Paris.

This belongs in your Mid Century bar for sure!
