Vintage Painted Japan Peach Lusterware Collection
Vintage Painted Japan Peach Lusterware Collection
$42.50
This is a little set of Lusterware pieces from the 1940s from Japan that have been collected from a variety of Estate sales. There are three little sets in the collection, and while they each have different design motifs, they all have the same peach background color so common in pieces of that timeframe. The three sets are:
- Lotus bowl and saucer with peach lusterware background, soft blue trim and orange flowers. These bowls were very popular in the 1940s and 1950s were used for condiments, nuts, deserts, fruits, rice and pasta . This set is in excellent vintage condition with wonderful iridescence, especially on the inside of the bowl and an attractive shape and colors. No chips or cracks in the ceramic. Some areas where the paint is slightly rubbed, but they appear to be from manufacture, not age. Made in Japan on the bottom of both pieces. Dimensions - Bowl - 4" top diameter, 2 3/4" bottom diameter, 2 5/8" tall. Saucer - 6 1/2" across, 3/4" high, 3 1/4" diameter of foot.
-Small decorative plate with wooden stand. The plate has an adorable scene of a house surrounded by blue trees, grassy front yard and a pond in the foreground. Colorful flowers adorn the top of the image above the house. Peach lusterware outer rim completes the image. This may have originally been part of a child's tea party set as it shaped like a little tray with two little cut our handles on each side. Japan printed on the back. The little painted black wooden stand (folds up for storage) is perfect for displaying the plate. No chips or cracks in the ceramic. Some areas where the paint is slightly rubbed, but they appear to be from manufacture, not age. Dimensions: Plate - 5" top diameter, 3" bottom diameter, 3/4" tall. Stand - 5" tall, 3 3/4" wide across front
- Small profile salt and pepper shakers with peach lusterware tops and sides and art deco black and blue flower with greenery on two sides. The tops of both have seven holes. There is a new corks in the bottom of both, one larger than the other as the holes are of different sizes. Japan printed on the bases of both. No chips or cracks in the ceramic. The background on one is brighter than the other - maybe that was to signify salt vs. pepper?
Some areas where the paint is slightly rubbed, but they appear to be from manufacture, not age. Dimensions - 2 1/4" tall, 1" base, 7/8" diameter tops for both
