Vintage Graveren Norsk Made in Norway Ceramic Apple Plate Original Sticker
Vintage Graveren Norsk Made in Norway Ceramic Apple Plate Original Sticker
$45.00
What a treasure - this hand made Graveren Norsk ceramic fruit plate is quintessentially mid-century in it's color and design. Very, very distinctive and unique. The original foil sticker from the brand is on the front and the back indicates 7871 UNE HANDMADE IN NORWAY. Based on the sticker and the history I found noted below, I am placing this piece in the 1960s.
The design of the blue and yellow berries with a brown apple in the center is accented by a border of black dots. The plate is in very good condition with no chips, cracks or crazing. I am not sure it was ever used for anything but display as the foil sticker has no damage. Minimal signs of wear, or even use, including to the design. The piece has a matte finish.
One of a kind!
The history I found of the company is as follows:
A/S Graverens Teglverk in Sandnes was founded around 1852. The Engraver produced ceramics right up until 1982, thus the Engraver brought the 1960s and 70s with it. The production of colored ceramics started in 1926. Until then, the Graveren had only produced brown ceramics, so-called pottery goods. In 1976, Graverens Teglverk merged with Gann's Pottery and Brickworks and became Gann Graveren.
Dimensions:
