These are the kind of pieces that I love for Warmth & Cheer. Little original oil paintings, often by amateur painters add the most original touch to décor! Maybe they are on a theme that is part of your gallery wall, maybe they represent a memory or historical event, maybe you just like the colors! They enhance any corner or display they grace.

This painting is reminiscent of a Paris, or other European city, street scene. There is the cobblestone wall with the colorful row houses on one side, the tree lined pocket park on the other and the towering church clock tower. Of interest is that people in the scene, all walking down the street. Their clothing suggests an early time with long skirts on the women and hats on the gentlemen. The sky is an arresting cerulean blue. The painting is not signed, but clearly an original. The dating is an estimate, based on the Estate Sale information gathered.

The painting is on a simple piece of heavy cardboard. The edges all the way around are scuffed and have paint loss which leads me to believe it was once in a frame. The corners are slightly bent. The piece is slightly bowed when laying flat. I think it still looks good, unframed and would lean on a mantel or shelf well. But, the right frame would make it shine! There is really wonderful details in the buildings and other elements of the composition. This is calling out to be included in a gallery wall or sitting alone on a mantel or shelf, it works either way.

It's really charming!
