These are really stunning pieces of Mid Century Star Flower design by Stangl Potteries out of Trenton NJ. I had not run across this pattern before, with the wonderful green accents, and was so excited to find such a pristine piece for my customers. This pattern was produced in the 1960s before the company closed in 1978. The Star Flower pattern is one of the most difficult to find for Stangl pieces, making this set with all three pieces all the more rare.

The cream and sugar set is made of red clay with hand painted majolica style yellow and white star flowers with brown stems and free form leaves. This design is etched into the clay and then the soft greenish-yellow glaze is applied and the flowers are hand painted on top. Just really charming and unique pieces to add to your mid-century collection. I also think they coordinate well with rustic wood and antique farmhouse kitchen pieces. Very versatile and eye catching.

The pieces are in amazing condition. I found a few similar pieces and they all had fairly large chips in the edges or base of the lid which happens so easily with clay pottery. These have no flaws that I can find and the high gloss finish is still very smooth to the touch.

The Stangl Pottery Trenton, NJ Golden logo is clearly marked on the bottom. Star Flower also noted.
