Vintage Quaker Oats Company Quick Mother's Oats Container with Original Labels and Lid
Vintage Quaker Oats Company Quick Mother's Oats Container with Original Labels and Lid
$30.00
This is an early Quick Mother's Oats Cardboard Container produced by the Quaker Oats Company. In 1911, Quaker acquired Mother's Oats which had a strong regional presence on the east coast and in the Rocky Mountains. Based on the fact that This box says "The Quaker Oats Company" it has to be post 1911. There is a clue on the coupon that indicates it expires on Jan 31, 1931, so I'm placing this in the 1930s. This is the type of container that was found in the old general stores circa 1930s.
This Mother's Oats cardboard container has it's original lid. The cardboard container was covered in paper with the company and usage information. The colors of the label are faded from aging but the graphics are really clear and so many interesting clues to kitchens of that era. There are recipes from the Mary Alden Test Kitchen, Advertisements for Wm. A. Rogers Silverplate teaspoons and Vaughan's Flower Seeds and an adorable image of a Mother and Child enjoying oatmeal. Nutritive Value, calling our the Richest Thrifty Natural Source of Vitamin B1, are also included.
Overall this , in excellent shape for its age and will display beautifully. There is some minor wear consistent with age and use. The paper is rough along the edges of the top and lid where it was torn to open the package. 18 is written in grease pencil on the top. There are a few water spots on the bottom. Really, really clean inside.
I was thinking this would also be a great addition to a Mother's Day display, or even for a creative container for a shelf sitter assemblage to honor a mother!
Dimensions:
7 1/4" high
4 1/4" diameter
