Vintage Pennsbury Pottery Amish Family Coaster/Trivet/Wall Hanging
Vintage Pennsbury Pottery Amish Family Coaster/Trivet/Wall Hanging
$22.50
What a piece of Americana! This lovely Pennsbury Pottery Wall Hanging/Coaster/Trivet was designed for décor, yet had a practical application. These pieces were produced in Pennsylvannia and depicted scenes from every day life in the Amish community. They had a distinctive tan background color and soft coloration of the illustrations. There were often phrases on the pieces as well, but this one is just an image of a mother and her two children surrounded by flower decorations.
The back is marked Pennsbury Pottery 1064 with the initial K for the painter. It comes with a vintage plate hanger as well. There are a few slight rusty marks on the back underneath the plate hanger. The image is wonderful, with no chips or cracks and the glaze is still quite shiny! There is one small spot on the front that appears to be a flaw in the glaze from manufacture.
Pennsbury Pottery had its origins around 1950 nearby Morrisville Pennsylvania. It was founded by German immigrants Henry and Lee Below and was named Pennsbury due to the proximity of Pennsbury Manor. They designed and manufactured plates, pitchers, tiles and vinegar and oil bottles at the family factory on Tyburn Road just below Route 13. The factory operated opened in 1950 and closed in 1970.
Dimensions:
