Vintage Cooking with Goodwill from Junior Group Goodwill Industries Cookbook
Vintage Cooking with Goodwill from Junior Group Goodwill Industries Cookbook
$30.00
What a fun, vintage "vibe" gift for a new cook, seasoned cook or even a non-cook. This is a really nicely preserved copy of Cooking with Goodwill Compiled and Edited by Goodwill Industries Detroit Michigan Copyright 1946. First Printing. I believe this was a fundraiser for the organization. The front and back fly leaf has a wonderful illustration of foods and harvest themes in shades of green, the rest of the book contains a smattering of illustrations for the section titles. The book is divided into 16 sections. The print in the entire book has a green cast to compliment the green leather look cover.
Each recipes displays the name of its respective contributor. This cookbook is packed with recipes of all different kinds. There are luncheon dishes, breads and waffles, salads, sweets, main dishes, and more.
The book is incredibly nice condition for its age. The green fabric cover has the most wear with edge and corner wear. It is especially fragile along the edges of the outside binding. The binding is nice and tight and I wonder if it was ever used much as there is no staining, writing or evidence of being used around food. I do not believe the pages have yellowed much at all.
This is a wonderful piece of Detroit history, along with a charming cook book!
