Vintage German Brown & Kemmler Enameled Asparagus Pot/Lid
Vintage German Brown & Kemmler Enameled Asparagus Pot/Lid
$45.00
This set caught my eye at a recent Estate sale! Not only did it have an amazing mid century design vibe and excellent vintage condition, it had the most amazing burgundy/brown enamel color with a high gloss finish. My research indicates this is a German 1960's Enamel Asparagus Pot Steamer by Braun & Kemmler (Beka).
The pot and lid are in very good pre-owned vintage condition. The lid has a top handle and a steam vent along the silver rim. The pot has two perky side handles. There is one spot on the asparagus painting where the white paint has chipped off. It would be easy to touch this up if it bothered you. The set originally had a mesh strainer basket included that is no longer with this pot. I checked a bit on amazon and a replacement would be easy to locate if desired.
The bottom is marked Braun & Kemmler (otherwise known as BEKA). Around the center mark is Spezialemaillierter Thermoboden (Special Enameled thermal floor as translated from German) Elektro-Gas-Keramik Energy Saving Made in Germany. The bottom mark is flaw free so the pot was not used over heat too much!
This unique pot would make the perfect addition to your farmhouse enamelware collection. It would display well on an open kitchen shelf as well and - of course - be fun to use during asparagus season.
Lid - 6 3/4" diameter, 1 3/4" tall to top of handle
Pot - 7" diameter, 9 1/4" tall, 9 1/2" wide across handles
Stacked - 11 1/4" tall
