The Sunbonnet Sue design from the 1930s was so popular. I believe this is a piece from an original vintage quilt that has been artfully framed and matted to be a wall hanging. The dress of this Sunbonnet Sue is a darling blue gingham check, with her hat and sleeve in a coordinating plain blue color. The piece is affixed to a neutral background with appliqued flowers along the bottom edge and one on her bonnet. White, black and blue thread was used to outline the figure .

There was much care placed in the creation of this piece. This would be really cute on the wall in a nursery or playroom. The fabric piece has been placed in thin profile vintage wood frame. The frame has been painted gold and a slim light green mat goes around the edge. It is behind glass. The fabric appears to be in wonderful condition with no apparent stains.

If you wanted to remove from the frame it would also be really cute as a pillow front.

The piece is taped into the back of the frame with an older piece of cardboard as the backing. It would be easy to deconstruct, if that was your preference. Or use as a wall hanging - it has such vintage charm! Of course, perfect for anyone with a Sunbonnet Sue collection!
