What a perfect little piece to brighten up the January doldrums - and celebrate all that is good with winter! This is a super charming mid-century Donald Cart Company lithograph print of a little boy and a little girl playing in the snow with a giant snowball, with pine trees and a cabin in the background. The looks on their faces are precious - the little girl, perturbed as she is doing all the work. The little boy - gleeful as he is bugging his sister and rolling on a snowball at the same time! I love their retro, pastel snowsuits. There is a bit of gold and silver accenting along the edges of the larger elements in the piece that add a nice dimensionality to the image.

The piece comes in the original cream wooden frame and is in slightly imperfect condition, as to be expected after 60+ years. The corners are a bit loose and the paint is tired, but I think it compliments the image well. There is the original glass included. Due to the looseness of the frame there is dust and dirt on the inside of the image. If it did not require removing the back paper, I would have taken it apart to clean it. Some like the original backing, so I have left that to the next owner. There is a rustic thread hanger which leaves a bit to be desired, so if you opt to hang this on your wall - rather than prop it up on a side table or shelf, you'll need an updated hanger, most-likely.

Just a super kitschy winter time print of some 1950s inspired kiddos and their antics.

Donald Bonnist and his wife opened the Donald Art. Co. in 1939. In the mid-1960s the company opened an art gallery. They sold framed lithographed prints for the home. Over the years, they experimented and developed techniques for printing on cotton, vinyl, and velvet among other surfaces. Artists would sign contracts to produce images for these prints and many became famous.
