The book is filled with pages for a student to collect autographs and list details of his/her school life. There are only three pages that have any writing on them:
Page 13 - 1920 is written as the year
Page 51 - includes an newspaper clipping of Tama Girls win Patriotic Prizes
Page 58 - 59 - includes two newspaper clippings about the Tama debate team, two Debating Team programs, one photo with the caption, "The Victims" at Marshall town BEFORE! Hence the Jollity. First Blood: Tama - 3, Oelwein - 0.
The illustrations are lovely and are colored in the book themes of green, black and orange accents. They would make wonderful paper collage pieces if the book was not to be kept in tact. Or, if you have friends or relatives from Iowa, they may enjoy this book and the bit of history included therein. The scant biographical information I have found about the illustrator is as follows: Clara Powers Wilson (fl. 1930s, Topeka) was active/lived in Kansas. Clara Wilson is known for Painter, sculptor. She was an art instructor at Crane Junior High, 1935.
For a book of this age, it is in incredible shape! I believe this may have had some water damage as there is a few spots where there is a yellowish circle on the inside of some of the pages and there is discoloration along the edge of the binding. The book is also slightly curved, again, because I think it has some slight water damage in the past.
This is super special!
