Antique “Easy to Read” Illustrated Story Book, McLoughlin Bros.
$20.00
Oh, these are really hard to find in such amazing condition. A rare antique book entitled "Easy To Read Story Book". Awesome find for your antique book collection or as gift for a antique collector!
Likely first edition, dated 1828 on McLoughlin Bros. Publishers stamp, with a pencil inscription on the first page of Dec 25, ‘22. The front cover is heavy cardboard with a bright yellow paper cover with a little girl with daffodils. Inside are over 30 stories, of one to two pages each, with black and white illustrations. No authors noted. Some illustrations have artist names at bottom. All the pages are heavy card stock. Wonderful illustrations and topics that give a glimpse of childhood in the early 1900s. Rectangular format, 186 pages, easy to read.
This book is in very good condition for over 100 years old. The binding is tight; the first and last pages are ripped along the binding, no others tears or defects on the pages. Pencil inscription on first page. The cover has a bit of edge rubbing on the front and the yellow paper cover has some age staining. The back is a green printed cardboard, very nice. All pages are intact and free of scribbling or damage other than age spotting and darkening. The illustrations are magnificent and the book amazes me for its age and condition.
I found a wonderful collection of vintage children's books at a sale this past month and am working to get them posted. There is a little video showing the first six titles attached. Come back for more!
