Vintage "Rochester Hollow" Picture Plate Painted by Manuela Miller of a Fawn in Grasses

Vintage "Rochester Hollow" Picture Plate Painted by Manuela Miller of a Fawn in Grasses

$32.50
So charming! And the perfect little piece to celebrate the deer at the cabin, while adding some vintage charm. This hand painted birch wood plate is called "Rochester Hollow" Picture Plate, Wildlife of Birchland from Bethel, Vermont. The proprietors of the business were Manuel and Lucille Miller. The branding and artist name are on the back of the plate.

The scene on the plate is one of a sweet fawn nestled in the grass, awaiting mom's return. A faint outline of a mountain is seen in the background. The plate has a layer of lacquer over the finished painting.

Everything is in really nice vintage condition with just a few slight scratches on the surface near the fawn's head.

In my research, I learned:
Manuel and Lucille Miller operated a small studio pottery in the mid-1950s under the company name 'Wildlife of Birchland'. Their studio also did painting on wooden items for the home. He created the wood objects and they both did the painting. This one is stamped painted by Manuela Miller. (Not sure if this is their daughter maybe?)

A really unique, mid century décor piece that would be perfect for the cottage or cabin! Or maybe that unique piece that your dad would treasure for Father's Day!
