Vintage Made in England Pottery/Ceramic Hunting and Fishing Theme Relief Vase

What an unique and clever piece to celebrate hunting and fishing - perfect for the cabin. Wouldn't it look wonderful with a bouquet of wildflowers picked from the field.

This fantastic ceramic vase features a raised design of a hunting dog with his spoils from duck hunting on one side and a fishing creel with the catch of the day on the other. The top has a border of textured leaves coming off the tree trunks on both sides between the relief motifs. The background of the ceramic pieces is a soft green-gray. The birds, dog, fish and fishing gear have brown, blue and green accents. It appears to be hand painted and the style would lead me to believe it is from the late 1950s/early 1960s. There is no manufacturer markings to verify, only Made in England on the bottom green painted surface. My research did not find another piece like this so I am comfortable stating it is rare - and, possibly, one of a kind.

The inside of the piece has a soft green glazed surface with rust flecks. It is even unique!

The piece is in very nice vintage condition. There is only the slightest of chip in the top of the top rim. There is crazing in the surface of the piece as well, therefore I do not think it would be food safe - but an excellent vase for a poesy of flowers, or dried flowers in the autumn. Of course it would be wonderful as an accent piece on your mantel or shelf in the cottage. Really eye catching and really unique!
