Vintage Unmarked (Likely Bavaria) Tea Trivet with Painted Red Roses
Vintage Unmarked (Likely Bavaria) Tea Trivet with Painted Red Roses
$18.00
Oh my goodness - this vintage piece from Bavaria (most likely - mark is so faint) combines two of my favorite decorative items - roses and tea! Just so cozy. Tea trivets were quite common in the 1920s through 1940s as they protected the table top from the hot tea pot, and kept the tea pot warmer longer. It was quite the fashion to have them hand painted in nature scenes. This trivet is painted with a lusterware look green border and a center red rose bouquet. The green edge has embossed elements as well.
The charming center painting is reminiscent of luster ware bowls that came from Bavaria in the 1930s and 1940s. The mark in the back is so faint but I believe the style, and collection this came from dates the piece from between the late 1800s and the early 1920s. There is no artist signature.
The piece is in very nice condition - no chips, cracks, crazing on any surfaces. There are a few slight usage marks on the rose design and the outside edge of the green rim is lighter but I believe that is the design, not from wear.
There is a second tea trivet available in the next listing. Equally as pretty!
Dimensions:
6 1/2" top diameter
4 3/4" bottom foot diameter
5/8" high
