Vintage Syracuse American Scene Midwest Dinner Plate, Pittsburgh Steel Industry
Vintage Syracuse American Scene Midwest Dinner Plate, Pittsburgh Steel Industry
$18.50
For all my "Mid Western" vintage lovers, this "The American Scene" plate is are treasure. It was made in 1952 for Syracuse China Co. and was painted especially for B. Altman & Co. by Adolph Dehn. There is one available that represents Middle America. It is the Steel Industry, Pittsburgh First Edition.
The plate has the main background in ivory has a 24K gold trim along edge & inside plate. The colors used are predominately pastel with gray accents. The clouds in the image is important to the design.
The plate is in really nice condition. I suspect it was never used for dining but rather was a display pieces. The plate does have a slight degree of surface wear on the design. The gold rims are in really nice shape. No chips, crazing or cracks on the plate.
It is marked on the back:
