Vintage Hand made Corn Husk Doll Family (3)
Vintage Hand made Corn Husk Doll Family (3)
$15.00
My parents owned a Collectibles and Toy store back in the 1990s. They had a wonderful assortment of collectible stuffed animals and folk art décor, but too many to keep now that they have retired. I will be listing quite a few items from their collection over the next few weeks so stay tuned if you are a collector of cute things!
This is a lovely vintage handmade Corn Husk Doll Family that are a step above many of the simpler versions available. The details are incredible, double layer of corn husk, one for the doll itself that other for the dyed outfits. I believe these were made to represent Raggedy Ann and Andy from the hand drawn faces that mirror those dolls. They are also in red and blue outfits. The male and female doll are made in sitting positions. They baby has an equally adorable face with a long corn stalk dress. These are just so well made that they have lasted in wonderful condition for over 40 years.
I believe the blue coloring of the outfits may have faded a bit over time and the apron on the female doll has some age spotting (this could have been original to the look). The most notable aging feature is the missing hat on the female doll. The top of her hair has a darkness and residual glue that leads me to believe she was also wearing a hat at one time. Another one could be made quite easily. Other than that - really, really nice. They sit on their own easily for display and use in décor.
They show some signs of having been displayed - dustiness and some dirty spots on the man's legs but they really would display nicely with your collection of folk art artifacts.
Dimensions:
Female- 5" tall, 3" deep
Male - 5 1/2" tall, 3" deep
Baby - 6 1/4" long
Sold as a Set of Three
