For US Presidential Campaign History buffs and collectors, here is a nice selection of authentic lapel pins from three different campaigns. They are sold in sets, according to the campaign they represent. There are 2 from 1929 Hoover campaign, 1 from 1944 Dewey Campaign and 3 from 1952 Eisenhower campaign.
1929 - Herbert Clark Hoover (August 10, 1874 – October 20, 1964) was an American politician and humanitarian who served as the 31st president of the United States from 1929 to 1933. A member of the Republican Party, he held office during the onset of the Great Depression. A wealthy mining engineer before his presidency, Hoover led the wartime Commission for Relief in Belgium, served as the director of the U.S. Food Administration, and served as the U.S. secretary of commerce.
These are two lapel pins that indicate HOOVER.
1 - Metal cellophane covered pinback button. Red, White and Blue. Front has label and back is printed Bastian Brothers Company of Rochester, New York. White is darkened with age, slight paint roughness around back edge. Pin in good shape. 13/16" diameter.
2- Metal fold over lapel pin. Bronze and dark blue. There is also a small silver bar pin that the Hoover pin rests on. I do not think that was original, but rather used to preserve the metal of the fold over pin. Will send with. No manufacturer noted. Quite rare! Dimensions: 7/8" x 1/4". In really good vintage condition.
1944 - The 1944 United States presidential election was the 40th quadrennial presidential election. It was held on Tuesday, November 7, 1944. The election took place during World War II, which ended the following year. Incumbent Democratic President Franklin D. Roosevelt defeated Republican Thomas E. Dewey to win an unprecedented fourth term. Bricker was his running mate.
