Vintage Rosenthal Germany Pierced Edge Porcelain Serving Bowl
Vintage Rosenthal Germany Pierced Edge Porcelain Serving Bowl
This beautiful pierced edge serving dish is really, really pretty and of a coloration not often seen. There are many more bowls with pastel colors or smaller flowers but the unique presentation on this one makes it extra special. The scalloped edge have burnished silver on the rims and five areas of pierced porcelain ( a hallmark of the 1930s and Rosenthal). The sides are decorated with teal green filigree and the center has a wildflower and rose bouquet in complimentary colors.
The dish is marked on the back "Elfenbien Rosenthal Kronach-Germany Moliere" in green ink and "Dornroschen 22" (Pattern name) in black ink. This makers mark was used from 1901 - 1933.
There are no chips or cracks, no crazing and the paint is still very well presented. There are a few slight age spots, one on the creamy center and one on the filigree edge. The silver rim paint has areas where it is rubbed off a bit. The glaze on the outside of the bowl is still really shiny.
This could serve as the center point for your Easter decorating this year. Finding complimentary pieces that are in this color family would be so much fun, and a stunning display!
