What a sweet little set! The pieces resemble a miniaturized washstand set with a water pitcher and underplate. The each are decorated with a pair of gray birds (maybe rose breasted grosbeaks?) sitting on pine boughs. The edges are fluted with painted gold trim. The white porcelain background has a high glaze finish. I just thought it was really pretty and would snuggle into a Christmas holiday or winter display on a shelf or mantel so well.

This birds are very naturally portrayed on pine boughs with a few pine cones. Great authentic details for any bird lover.

The pieces are in wonderful condition - no chips, cracks, crazing on any surfaces. There are a few bumps in the glaze that appear to have been there since manufacture. You don't really notice them, but you can feel them when running your hand across the surface.

The base is marked 194 on both and the underplate also has a Made in Japan sticker. I think that puts it into the 1950s.
