Wonderful set of theatre or WWII ephemera surrounding the "Call Me Mister" Music revue. This revue had sketches by Arnold Auerbach and words and music by Harold Rome. The title refers to troops who are happily returning to civilian life and no longer want to be addressed by their military ranks. The Broadway production, directed by Robert H. Gordon, opened on April 18, 1946 at the National Theatre. It transferred twice, to the Majestic and the Plymouth, before completing its run of 734 performances.

The set includes two pieces:

1 - "Call Me Mister" souvenir book. This glossy paper booklet has a wonderful bright red cover with a scene of a GI in military uniform, switching mid-run into a bowler hat and tie and greeting a woman by Ralph Stein. Inside is a summary of the cast and crew of the musical revue, along with detail bios of key contributors. The center and last two pages include full two page spreads of scenes from the theatre. The photographs are reproduced in blue and gray tones. The piece is in nice, vintage shape. There is some corner ruffling and spots of color loss on the front cover. The top left hand corner is especially frayed, I think from having the page turned so many times. Inside pages are in really nice vintage shape. The binding is still securely stapled. 2 - Call Me Mister The Playbill for the National Theatre, 1947. This playbill is amazingly preserved and really display worthy. The glossy paper is crease and tear free. The imagery from the production is presented in sepia tones. There are nine pages detailing the Acts, Musical Numbers and Sketches. Quite an elaborate Musical Revue! The advertising in this booklet is an incredible snapshot of the late 1940s hopes and dreams! The binding is still securely stapled. Measures: 6 1/2" x 9"
All the pieces display well, or could be used for collages, art projects, scrapbook backgrounds.
