Rare Retro Boontonware Melamine Somerset Green Dinner Plates with Lily of the Valley Design in Storage Basket

$80.00
It's time to think about eating outdoors - on a picnic, at a campsite, on a boat, on the deck - anywhere you can get outside and snjoy fresh air while dining. This set of 8 rare Boontonware Melamine Dinner plates with their own perfectly proportioned storage basket would be the hit of the outdoor dining season. You can find quite a selection of the early-melamine plates from Boontonware out of New Jersey, but most are plain colored. This Somerset pattern with the lily of the valley border is highly sought after. Having the storage basket to keep them neatly stacked while serving and storing is an added bonus.

These adorable plates are marked Boontonware 9103- 9 7/8 Somerset on the bottom and are from the 1960s. The Melmamine material was a new entry to the market at that time. It is hard to find a set of these plates. They are all in great, vintage condition. There is utensil marking on the center of each of the plates. Only one has a small stain spot. The backs have the original high gloss sheen that has dulled on the front. I did find suggestions on-line of easy ways to bring back the shine, if that would be of interest.

The basket is nicely woven with a ribbon like top edge and is in wonderful vintage condition. No noted breaks in the weaving. Some usage evidence.

Wonderful set!
