Another fun find in the die-cast metal toy land! This is a set of four small Tonka trucks from the late 1960s to the early 1980s. These would be a great addition to your collection!

The four pieces are:

1 - Vintage 1960s Red Cab and Yellow Bottom Dump Trailer with the Tonka stickers on both doors. Both pieces have pressed steel bodies and plastic front grill, interior and windows. The back Bottom Dump piece has a lever on the bottom that would allow for "dumping" of whatever was put in the center hopper. The bottom lever works really well. It does have its windshield, white grill and all six wheels on the cab and four wheels on the dumper in place. There is little to no rust on the axles and just a few spots of paint scuffs on the sides (mostly on the dumper). No cracks or breaks in the plastic parts. The toy truck is marked “Tonka” underneath and on the connecting portion. The dumper is embossed Tonka on both ends and the Bottom Dump stickers are still fully in place. In my research I did not find one with a red cab and yellow dumper, so maybe this is a replacement cab truck? They fit well together and look nice either way. Dimensions: Truck - 4¾” long x 2 1/2” tall x 2” wide. dumper - 6 1/2" long x 2 1/2" tall X 2" wide. Together they are 8 3/4" long using first hole, or 9 1/4" using second hole.

2 - Vintage 1980s Tonka 41 Off Road Pick Up Truck with the original 41 Tonka stickers on both sides. It has a plastic body and pressed steel cab. The roll bar and windows are plastic as well. It does have its windshield and all four wheels in place. There is no rust on the metal parts and no cracks in the plastic parts. The toy truck is marked 812247C underneath. Dimensions: 4” long x 2” tall x 1 3/4” wide.

3 - Vintage 1978 Tonka Black and Silver Off Road Pick Up Truck with the original Tonka stickers on both sides and the top of the hood. It has a plastic body and pressed steel cab and truck base. The exhaust pipes and windows are plastic as well. It does have its windshield and all four wheels in place. There is no rust on the metal parts and no cracks in the plastic parts. The silver stickers are scuffed, but still totally in place. The toy truck is marked Tonka 1978 Made in USA underneath. Dimensions: 4” long x 2” tall x 2” wide.

4 - Vintage 1980s Tonka Cattle Co. Panel Truck with the original Cattle Co. stickers on both sides. It has a plastic body and pressed steel cab and truck base. The interior and windows are plastic as well. It does have its windshield and all four wheels in place. There is no rust on the metal parts and the front windshield has a crack, not sure if there originally was a back gate that is now missing. The toy truck is marked Tonka 435 Made in China underneath. Dimensions: 4” long x 2 1/8” tall x 2” wide.

Tonka is an American producer of toy trucks. The company is known for making steel toy models of construction type trucks and machinery. Maisto International, which makes diecast vehicles, acquired the rights to use the Tonka name in a line of 1:64 scale, featuring mostly trucks.

If you enjoy reconditioning older metal toys, these pieces would really shine up well. If you enjoy the rustic look of a well loved toy, they would be fun to add to a Tonka truck collection. Either way, you can't go wrong!
