Vintage Hand Made Wooden Hobby Horse with Single Wheel
Vintage Hand Made Wooden Hobby Horse with Single Wheel
I like to believe this was made by someone's Grandpa to keep the Grandkids busy when their parents were visiting!
This handmade stick horse has a hand drawn face and mane (with black sharpie marker, possibly) and a brightly painted yellow wheel to add to the fun of running around with it between your legs. It would make a great wall display in the nursery, playroom, game room or even man cave if you didn't want it to be played with anymore as well. It would be darling as part of a front porch display as well.
The wood is a light weight composite and is stained a nut brown. The head is cut out by a jig saw and features ears, nose and long neck of a dual sided horse head. The eyes, mane and other features of the face are artistically drawn on the piece. The head is securely glued on to the stick. The base has a small wheel attached by wooden side pieces; all of the base is painted yellow.
The piece has clearly been loved over the years. The tips of the ears are roughened and there are scuffs along the edge of the head. The wheel is attached by a screw on the bottom and one side of that screw no longer has a finished part. I would recommend replacing that piece if the horse will be "ridden".
Really cute! So many ways to use it as a decorative accent.
