Vintage Metal Frame Boat/Canoe Clamp On, Swivel Seat Frabil
Vintage Metal Frame Boat/Canoe Clamp On, Swivel Seat Frabil
$85.00
What a beauty! We used this swivel boat seat on our aluminum fishing boat for a few years and I can attest to it's comfort and ease of storage, portability and attachment. But alas, no more fishing boat so no more need for a fishing boat seat! (Although I have often thought this could be a cute piece made into patio furniture on a bench for you creative types.) It has the perfect "at the cabin" look and feel.
Base on my research, this is very likely from Frabil Manufacturing out of Milwaukee WI from the 1950s. It has a beige and tan vinyl, padded seat and back rest with an MCM striped look. They are both in really nice condition. No rips or tears or stains. One end of the back rest has a bit of a ruffle in the vinyl which appears to be from manufacturing. The metal frame has been painted bluish-green and is in really nice structural condition. There is light surface rust, scratches and oxidation. The plate under the seat has a swivel mechanism and it turns very smoothly. The seat is made to clamp on to a boat seat with a turning clamp on one side and a l-shaped clamp on the other. It was very sturdy in our boat!
The makers tag is no longer present.
The back rest folds down cleanly on to the seat and the back frame becomes a handle making it easy to carry and store. It has been lightly cleaned, may need a bit more.
Just a charming, practical piece that would bring back fond memories of fishing with grandpa in the summer!
Dimensions:
Upright - 16"H x 14 1/4"L x 13 1/4"W
Folded - 6"H
