This is a really wonderful needlepoint of a sailboat heading out to sea with just a single sail unfurled, a small dinghy in tow and the boat captain casually at the helm. The color tones are extremely appealing, the lovely blues of the sea and sky contrast with the rich creamy whites, grays and neutral tones of the sails. Wonderful color selections show the waves on the waters surface and the land in the background. The piece is professionally framed in a wood frame with a woven texture that has been painted off white with a black wash. There is a black accent inner piece which does a nice job of accenting the piece. This would be the perfect addition to a nautical gallery wall!

The piece is unsigned and has no dating but they style of the frame and the needlework leads be to believe 1980s.

This piece is very good vintage condition. The frame has a few spots of paint chipping in the off white background and some surface staining in the bottom right hand corner. I think these could be cleaned up easily with a little TLC. The corners are sturdy and there is little to no separation at the joints. There is an areas in the bottom left hand corner where the edge of the needlepoint tapestry can be seen. (see picture). The piece is behind glass so it appears to have aged very well. There is a hanging wire on the back. The brown paper backing is really showing its age.
