Vintage Ceramic Bird Relief Pitcher/Vase Hand Painted
Vintage Ceramic Bird Relief Pitcher/Vase Hand Painted
$22.50
What a sweet little piece. This fantastic ceramic pitcher features a raised design of a bird on a branch on one side and butterflies circling a branch on the other. There is a bottom painted border of textured grasses. The colors used to accent the raised areas are soft blue and brown tones. It appears to be hand painted and the style would lead me to believe it came out of Japan from the late 1940s/early 1950s. There is no manufacturer markings to verify.
The piece is in very nice vintage condition. The spout and handle are chip free which is hard to find after almost 80 years! There is the slightest of edge chipping along the bottom and one hairline crack in the butterfly design side. For that reason, I would not think this would be food safe - but an excellent vase for a spring poesy of flowers or as an accent piece on your coffee station. Really cute and really unique!
Dimensions:
4 1/8" tall
2 5/8" wide at base
4" wide handle to spout
