1986 Nancy Nemec Intaglio Print Seasonal Variations II 127/350
1986 Nancy Nemec Intaglio Print Seasonal Variations II 127/350
$85.00
Can you believe I found this piece at the back of a pile at an Estate sale? It is a Nancy Nemec Intaglio Relief Print entitled "Seasonal Variation II" from 1986. This is print number 127/350. The title, print number, artist signature and date are all included in pencil on the bottom of the piece.
The print is so beautiful and such a celebration of spring! There are two dark red song birds perches on an apple tree branch proudly guarding their nest of four eggs. The birds and the branches are highlighted by a gold background and a light blue sky. This is an Intaglio Relief print so there is dimension to the piece as well. The edges of the print are hand torn and cut to add to the artistic feel of the piece. The top right hand corner is a bit ruffled and that appears to be how it was when it was framed.
The framing is exquisite with a black shadowbox feel to the mat directly around the piece. It is then framed out with off white linen textured mat and a simple textured dark bronze metal frame. Very, very striking. On the back is the sticker indicating this has Tru Vue Conservation Clear glass. There is also a small bio of Nancy Nemec taped on the back of the piece. A sturdy claw foot hanger is on the center top back.
The bio identifies Nancy as born in 1923 and has been a well known printmaker for many years, working in a variety of mediums other than the intaglio and relief printings which she is currently doing. She was a Warner New Hampshire resident on-and-off from 1942 to her death in 2003. She produced a great deal of her work at her "Kearsarge Studio." She was also a contributing editor for the Concord Monitor from 1990-1991, and taught art classes.
The piece is in excellent vintage condition. The image and mat are in really nice condition, no noted flaws. The metal frame has some nicks to the bottom corners. They do not show from the front, but from the side. I think they could be touched up to be even less obvious.
This is an amazing piece of art from a very collectible artist and would enhance any spot it graced in your home or office.
