Westmoreland Vintage Almond Milk Glass Painted Candy Dish
Westmoreland Vintage Almond Milk Glass Painted Candy Dish
$48.00
This is a beautiful Vintage Westmoreland Covered Dish with a creamy almond glass color with a bit of a swirl within the glass (very hard to photograph). Around the perimeter is three oval inset picture frame embellishments; two are flowers and one is a portrait. On the original piece these were unpainted. S. Miller 1978 (as signed on the bottom) added the perfect light cocoa and white painting to these designs. She also added two thin lines of the same cocoa color. Her additions are not only unique, they are really well done and add an extra touch to this already charmingly shaped covered dish. diamond pattern and small pedestal base. I believe it is from the early 1960s.
This would be a perfect addition to any display with its creamy color, decorative pattern and perky footed shape and lid. It would be an adorable candy dish, or could hold small treasures on your desk. The piece is in excellent, vintage condition. No chips, cracks or flaws noted.
There is no maker's mark on the bottom of the piece, although it was identified to me as Westmoreland. Likely this was marked with a foil label that is no longer affixed to the piece. The Westmoreland company first started making milk glass in the 1920s, and were one of the top producers of high quality milk glass in America!
Dimensions:
Total height is 6"
Height of the base is 3 3/4"
Height of the lid is 2 1/4"
Widest point across is 5"
Base across is 3"
